Torwoodlee
26th January 2016 - 0 comments
I climbed up the Langshaw road above Torwoodlee looking up the road to the snowy hills I'd just come through in the bus.
The colours were saturated; as was the ground, it took a long tense time after I'd drawn for two hours, to get down without ending up sliding down on my rear...
And then it was getting dark, so I walked to Gala, and met the same bus and the same bus driver on the outskirts. He stopped and remembered me because I'd forgotten to take my ticket ... so a happy outcome.

This is on an old road, on the southern borders of Edinburgh looking out to Sutra in the last week of October. Surprisingly warm, so I didn't need gloves, hood, scarf, thermal vest, leggings, a hand warmer, thick coat etc, etc...

Various plants, whose name I don't know grow along the Water of Leith - but I do know this one, Buddleia; it looks like bunches of purple honey smelling grapes.

The Borders railway has opened; I took the train to Stow and walked up the hill, fell off the gate avoiding the dead rabbit and drew Watherall Hill in the hot sunny afternoon.
